Summary

Two meaningful changes landed the week of September 28 to October 5: a brand-new tool called Launch Video, and a significant update to the tool formerly known as Mermaid to PNG, now renamed Diagram Creator.

  • Launch Video is a new tool that turns a codebase and a short brief into a rendered video, using the coding agent you already have in your terminal.
  • Every film is versioned, and all rendering happens on your own machine, so nothing is charged to the workspace.
  • Export options include an MP four download or saving directly to your Raster library.
  • Diagram Creator (previously Mermaid to PNG) now lets you click any node in a flowchart to change its label, color or icon without touching the source.
  • A brand frame option adds a thin border with your workspace logo to exports.
  • A fixed canvas size option (16 by 9, 4 by 3 or square) lets you match a whole set of diagrams to one size.

What's new with Monogram Tools, covering September 28 to October 5.

Two things changed this week that are worth knowing about. The bigger one is a new tool. The other is a meaningful update to a tool that also got a new name.

Starting with the new tool: Launch Video.

Launch Video is designed to make short product videos from a codebase. You create a film inside the workspace, point it at a codebase, write a brief describing what the video should show, and then paste one command into your terminal. Your coding agent takes it from there. It reads the code, plans the shots, builds the video and renders it on your computer. When it finishes, the new version appears in the workspace ready to play or download.

Because everything runs on your machine, none of the rendering is charged to the workspace.

The tool supports landscape, vertical, square and portrait sizes, at 30 or 60 frames per second. Every version is saved with its source files, so you can go back to any of them and start again from that point. If you want a vertical cut for social, you duplicate the film, set it to a vertical size, and run the command again. The agent rearranges it and tells you if any scenes had to be dropped.

Export options are an M P 4 download or saving straight to your Raster library.

The page notes that Launch Video has been used to create 600 videos in the last 30 days, and that it is currently invite-only through a request access step.

Now for the update. The tool previously called Mermaid to PNG has been renamed Diagram Creator, and its feature set has grown noticeably.

The core idea is the same: describe a flowchart or start from a template, and it comes back as editable Mermaid source drawn in Monogram's style. But there are three new things you can do that were not there before.

First, you can now click directly on any node in a flowchart and change its label, color or icon from a single panel. The source is rewritten automatically to match. You no longer have to find the right line in the Mermaid source and edit it by hand.

Second, there is a brand frame option. Turn it on, and the export gets a thin border with your workspace logo in the corner.

Third, you can now fix the canvas to a specific size. The options are 16 by 9, 4 by 3 or square. That means if you are making a set of diagrams, you can export all of them at the same dimensions so the whole set comes out consistent.

Everywhere else on the site, references to Mermaid to PNG have been updated to Diagram Creator, including the home page, the app library, and the guide.

That is everything from the week of September 28 to October 5. Find both tools at tools dot monogram dot io.
